The Seed of a Dream
For Tom Hall, the story of Lineage Estate began long before the first vines were planted. It started on childhood trips to the Russian River Valley, where days spent among the vines with his father and uncles left an indelible impression. Those early memories - defined by world-class wine, family meals, and the rolling hills of Sonoma County - became the foundation of a lifelong passion for Pinot Noir.
The Mentorship
That passion eventually led Tom to Kirk and Denise Hubbard, the founders of WesMar Winery. Over a twenty-year friendship, Tom watched as they meticulously developed their ten-acre estate in the heart of the Green Valley. Located on a prime east-facing hillside with rich Goldridge soil, the property was a viticultural jewel.
In 2021, amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, the Hubbards offered Tom the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to take over the estate. With his family’s full support, Tom took the leap. Under the Hubbards' careful guidance, he learned the nuances of their signature winemaking style, eventually taking the baton to lead the project into its next chapter.
The Partnership & The Land
Today, Lineage Estate is a true family endeavor. Tom is joined by his partners - his wife, children, father, brothers, and extended family - all of whom share in the stewardship of the land. In the cellar, Tom works alongside his best friend and co-winemaker, Jason Morganstein. Together, they have traveled the world’s great wine regions, refining their palates and their craft to bring forth the finest expressions of their estate.
Our philosophy is inspired by the storied chateaus of Burgundy: focus on a single estate, stay small, and honor the land. By practicing minimal intervention and keeping production limited, we ensure that every bottle tells the story of the vintage and the unique character of the Green Valley.
The Future of Lineage
While Pinot Noir remains our champion - featuring our prized Pommard, Martini, and 777 clones - we are constantly evolving. Our commitment to the estate has led to the introduction of Estate Rosé and our inaugural Sauvignon Blanc.
